Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support an enterprise database environment for a federal customer.
The Senior Oracle DBA will administer, maintain, secure, optimize, and support highly available Oracle and SQL database environments. This role includes database configuration, backup and recovery, patching, performance tuning, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), monitoring, automation, security, and incident response.
The ideal candidate has deep Oracle Database, Oracle Grid, Oracle RMAN, and PL/SQL experience along with hands-on experience across SQL and other enterprise database technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise Oracle and SQL databases.
- Manage database provisioning, installations, upgrades, patching, and server maintenance.
- Develop and maintain backup, restore, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) processes.
- Perform advanced database, query, optimizer, and storage performance tuning.
- Establish and support database monitoring, alerting, security, compliance, and configuration standards.
- Develop SQL/PL-SQL scripts and automation to improve database operations.
- Troubleshoot complex database incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and support incident prevention.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams and communicate technical issues and recommendations to staff and management.
- Support occasional scheduled after-hours patching, server reboots, and maintenance activities.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in database administration and related database disciplines.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database, Oracle Grid, Oracle RMAN, and PL/SQL .
- Demonstrated experience with all of the following technologies: SQL, SQL Server, SQL Clustering, SQL Scripting, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft Access.
- Experience creating and managing standalone Oracle and SQL databases.
- Experience troubleshooting and triaging database and server issues.
- Experience with database/server maintenance, software installations, upgrades, and patching.
- Experience with High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), backup, and restore processes.
- Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, security, compliance, automation, and incident management.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across multiple technical teams.
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Must reside in the United States and perform all work from within the United States.
- Must be willing to complete federal background/suitability screening and fingerprinting if required.
- Must be available for 8 working hours per day within the customer's 7:30 AM–6:00 PM ET core-hours window.
- Must be able to support occasional scheduled after-hours maintenance.
- U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Oracle certification , such as OCP, OCA, or equivalent.
- Current or prior federal background investigation or Public Trust.
- Federal government or federal contracting experience.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Idera, SolarWinds, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Datadog, and/or Dynatrace .
- Experience with cloud database environments, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) .

$150,000–$180,000 per year as a W2 , negotiable for the right candidate.
