Consultant / Senior Consultant
About the Role
Do you want to help the world’s leading companies define who they want to be 5–10 years from now?
At Future Today Strategy Group (FTSG), we guide Fortune 500 companies, global institutions, and other innovative organizations through their most consequential decisions. Our clients seek more than marginal improvement, they come to us when the path forward is uncertain and the stakes are high. As futurists, we bring strategic clarity to the questions they have about the future.
We are seeking a Consultant or Senior Consultant to join our team of industry-leading strategists. You will work directly with client teams and FTSG senior leadership to address complex, often ambiguous challenges, bringing analytical rigor, structured thinking, and client-ready polish to every engagement. Your work will help shape recommendations that guide long-term choices and create near-term momentum.
You will conduct research, generate insights, develop strategic recommendations, and create high-quality presentations, memos, frameworks, and models. You will also contribute directly to client discussions, working sessions, and presentations, helping build trust-based advisory relationships.
We are considering candidates at both the Consultant and Senior Consultant levels. Your title and scope of responsibility will reflect your experience, demonstrated capabilities, and ability to work independently.
As a Consultant, you will take ownership of assigned research, analysis, and deliverables with guidance from engagement leaders. You will build your ability to turn complex information into structured insights, contribute to client discussions, and deliver consistently high-quality work.
As a Senior Consultant, you will independently own discrete workstreams, connecting research and analysis to actionable recommendations. You will take greater responsibility for planning and coordinating your workstream, leading relevant client discussions, reviewing contributions from junior colleagues, and providing day-to-day guidance and feedback.
Previous work as a futurist or a background in strategic foresight is not required. You will receive comprehensive training in our proprietary foresight methodologies and tools.
What You’ll Do
Research, Analysis & Strategic Recommendations
- Conduct structured research across industries, emerging developments, and client-specific challenges, bringing curiosity, analytical discipline, and attention to evidence.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into original frameworks, clear business implications, and actionable strategic recommendations.
Project Delivery & Ownership
- Take responsibility for the quality and timely delivery of your assigned work, coordinating closely with colleagues and communicating progress, dependencies, and potential issues.
- Work efficiently within agreed scope and timelines, maintain accurate time and progress reporting, and flag changes that could affect delivery. At the Senior Consultant level, help plan workstream activities and estimate the effort required.
Client Communication & Facilitation
- Create compelling presentations, strategy memos, and other deliverables that communicate complex ideas with clarity and polish.
- Present findings, lead working sessions appropriate to your level, and support engagement leaders in workshops and key client meetings. Build trust through preparation, sound judgment, and reliable follow-through.
Methodology, Team Development & Firm Contribution
- Apply FTSG’s foresight methodologies and contribute reusable research, frameworks, and lessons learned to the firm’s knowledge base, tools, and systems.
- Seek and act on feedback, share knowledge, and contribute to a supportive, ambitious team culture. Senior Consultants will also mentor junior colleagues, review their work, and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
Requirements
Who You Are
You are a highly capable consultant with a sharp analytical mind, exceptional communication skills, and a deep commitment to quality. You are comfortable working through ambiguity, know how to structure a problem, and can move from gathering information to explaining what it means for a client’s business.
You are intellectually curious, internally driven, and accountable for your work. You know when to work independently and when to seek input. You are confident but low-ego: you speak up with ideas, listen closely to others, and collaborate instinctively.
Most of all, you are energized by the opportunity to help organizations shape their futures, not just react to them.
Qualifications
- Relevant consulting experience. Consultant candidates will typically bring 2–4 years of total professional experience, including experience in a consulting role, ideally at a consulting firm. Senior Consultant candidates should demonstrate experience independently owning workstreams, developing recommendations, and guiding contributions from others.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including structured research, synthesis of complex information, and quantitative analysis using Excel or similar tools. Forecasting or modeling experience is a plus.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to develop polished slide decks, strategic narratives, and clear recommendations.
- Professional presence and client-facing experience, including leading meetings. Senior Consultant candidates should be comfortable leading discussions related to their workstreams and explaining the reasoning behind their recommendations.
- Strong organization and delivery discipline, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and collaborate across a project team. Proficiency with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint or Keynote, Miro or Mural.
- Practical proficiency with large language models, supported by strong independent research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. You use AI to strengthen your work, not replace your judgment. You can critically evaluate outputs, verify sources and claims, and independently explain and defend your recommendations. You remain accountable for the accuracy, originality, and quality of your work.
- A bachelor’s degree is required; business, research, economics, strategy, game theory, or related fields are preferred. An MBA is a plus, but not required.
Location & Travel
This is a hybrid role based in New York City or Connecticut, with access to our Flatiron and West Hartford offices.
Travel is approximately 20%, primarily within the United States, with the potential for some travel to Latin America and/or Europe. Travel typically occurs for project kickoffs, key phase readouts, and final project deliveries, and rarely requires more than two to three days a week.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel internationally. A valid passport is required. FTSG is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future.
Benefits
Growth at FTSG

As your capabilities deepen, you will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility for client work, contribute to our methods, and support the development of others. We will invest in your growth and expect you to do the same.
