Senior AI Engineering Consultant (m/f/d)

About the role AI is reshaping aviation; and zeroG is at the core of it. We are the AI experts of Lufthansa Group, building human-centric data and AI solutions that solve problems affecting millions of passengers and some of the most complex operations in the world.

To keep driving this transformation, we are looking for a Senior AI Engineering Consultant with at least 3 years of professional experience to help shape the future of aviation with AI.

In this consulting role, you’ll design, build and operate production-grade GenAI and ML solutions end to end. You’ll also work directly with clients to understand their challenges and shape them into the right problems to solve. Alongside the hands-on work, you’ll help set the technical direction on your projects, raise engineering quality and support more junior colleagues.

What you will be doing

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business processes, framing the right problems, and translating them into pragmatic and scalable AI solutions.
• Design, build and deploy reliable AI solutions (ML, GenAI, LLMs, RAG, and AI agents), taking them from prototypes to scalable cloud-based production (e.g. Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Turn complex aviation data into innovative data-driven products.
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions and engage directly with customers.
• Help grow our technical expertise and company culture

What skills should you have?

• Solid Python and software engineering skills.
• Hands-on experience building data-driven software solutions (ML, NNs, LLMs, RAG, and AI agents).
• First practical exposure to deploying, operating, and maintaining AI in production: MLOps/LLMOps, evaluation, monitoring, and cost/latency optimization.
• Solid data engineering skills (SQL, Databricks, data pipelines) and experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Awareness of AI security and compliance (e.g. GDPR, EU AI Act).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics to technical and business audiences (our working language is English).
• A consulting mindset: Strong stakeholder management and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and advise clients with confidence.
• A proactive self-starter attitude with commitment to continuous learning.

The following skills and experience would also be an asset:   Bonus points for:

• Experience with advanced agent architectures, including multi-agent systems, MCP, tool orchestration, and memory management.
• GenAI security testing: Local testing, red teaming, and penetration testing.
• Background in the aviation industry.
