Mid-Level Software Engineer - Gryps
Location: New York City
Work Model: Hybrid - 2-3 days per week in office
Industry: B2B SaaS - data infrastructure for the construction sector
Compensation: $140K-$180K base
About the Company
Our partner is a venture-backed B2B SaaS company building a fully managed data platform for the owners of large capital construction projects. Their product sits between the project-management, financial and contractor systems these organizations already run, structures the data with a proprietary knowledge graph, and turns it into dashboards, document search, invoice review and automated workflows. Their customers are major public institutions, universities, health systems and household-name enterprises, and the business has tripled revenue over the past year on a team of roughly fifteen people.
The Opportunity
The engineering organization is being rebuilt for its next stage of scale, and this role sits at the center of that work. You will start by taking a large-scale application migration across the finish line — the team has spent months re-architecting the product so it is simpler, cheaper to maintain and far easier for modern AI tooling to reason about, and roughly ninety percent of that work is done.
From there you will move into the newer half of the roadmap: an agentic automation platform built on an internal system that trains agents to run construction-specific workflows faster and more cheaply, or the data-connection layer that ingests and normalizes information from dozens of external systems. Either path is the same core skill set — orchestration, integration and data movement at real scale. You will report directly to the CTO on a small team, which means unusual visibility and a short path from decision to production.
Responsibilities
- Complete the migration of the core application to its new architecture, working closely with the CTO
- Build and maintain integrations that ingest structured and unstructured data at scale from external project, financial and contractor systems
- Design and operate orchestration and workflow-automation pipelines in Python
- Contribute to an agentic automation platform, including the systems that train and optimize agents for domain-specific tasks
- Participate in code review and lightweight system design across a small, fast-moving engineering team
- Own problems end to end in an environment where processes are still being built
Requirements
- 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong Python skills
- Hands-on experience with data ingestion at scale
- Experience with orchestration tooling such as Prefect, Dagster or Step Functions, ideally having built such systems rather than only consuming them
- Demonstrated experience integrating and connecting disparate software systems
- B2B SaaS engineering background
- A degree in Computer Science or a closely related field
- Based in the New York City area or willing to relocate, and able to work a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week in office
- A stable track record, with the technical depth to discuss past work in specific detail
