The Color Press Operator is a highly active and motivated individual who is responsible for quickly and adequately producing detailed, high-quality printed materials in a time sensitive atmosphere utilizing high speed digital printers. Color Press Operators may change many variables in the printing press set-up, such as dimension, color or contrast, paper stock, and ink cartridges. Often, successful digital print operators must self-manage as they have numerous printing projects going at the same time and create schedules to reflect these various deadlines. In addition, operators may also need to play the role of a digital press technician if maintenance on one of the machines is required. Color Press Operators must know about image resolution, file formats, fonts, and color space (CMYK cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and RGB red, green, and blue).
