Mallory Alexander International Logistics , a global third-party logistics (3PL) provider, is seeking a Logistics Professional to join our growing team.

The Import Specialist, Customs is primarily responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting customs entries to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) while coordinating the import clearance process to ensure shipments are cleared accurately, compliantly, and in a timely manner. This position works closely with customers, CBP, steamship lines, freight forwarders, CFS facilities, trucking companies, and internal teams to facilitate the efficient movement and delivery of imported shipments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit customs entries for imported shipments to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. Customs requirements.
  • Determine and/or verify Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and applicable duty rates.
  • Identify products subject to OGA/PGA requirements and ensure appropriate data and documentation are included with entries.
  • Research and resolve customs entry discrepancies, documentation issues, holds, exams, and other clearance-related exceptions.
  • Monitor entry status and follow up with CBP and other government agencies as necessary to facilitate timely clearance.
  • Communicate with customers regarding customs entry requirements, clearance status, OGA/PGA requirements, customs holds, and shipment irregularities.
  • Maintain daily tracking reports for open, pending, and released shipments.
  • Track and trace imported shipments and coordinate with steamship lines, freight forwarders, and CFS facilities regarding cargo availability, arrival, and release status.
  • Issue delivery orders and arrange shipment pickup and delivery with trucking companies following customs release.
  • Maintain accurate and complete shipment and customs documentation in CargoWise One.
  • Handle related accounting processes, including preparation of invoices and review/approval of freight bills.
  • Provide timely updates to customers and internal teams regarding shipment and customs clearance status.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in customs brokerage, import operations, or international logistics.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import procedures, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise One preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when preparing customs entries.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple entries and deadlines.
  • Ability to research, identify, and resolve customs and documentation issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
