Mercuryo is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to support its U.S. legal and regulatory operations, with a primary focus on the multi-state Money Transmitter License (MTL) project and commercial contracting. This role is integral to ensuring Mercuryo’s compliance and operational excellence as a regulated payments company operating in a fast-paced, global fintech environment.

The Junior Legal Counsel will work closely with senior legal and compliance leaders to advance MTL licensing, conduct regulatory research, and manage application and post-licensing workstreams. Responsibilities include preparing and organizing legal materials for NMLS and state submissions, drafting application responses, and coordinating timely communications with internal and external stakeholders.

The role also involves reviewing and redlining commercial agreements, maintaining contract trackers, and ensuring all documentation aligns with Mercuryo’s regulatory obligations and risk standards. Additional duties include supporting the drafting and maintenance of policies and procedures required for regulated payments operations, monitoring legal developments, and providing concise, actionable guidance to business teams.

Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of relevant legal experience in fintech, payments, banking, financial services, or digital assets, with strong legal research, writing, and contract review skills. Experience with U.S. money transmission licensing, NMLS filings, and regulated payments companies is highly valued. The position reports to the Head of Legal, US, and operates remotely within the United States.
