CG Character Designer

Jam Filled is starting up a CG project and is looking for a talented Character Designer to join our team!

This is a full time position (40 hours per week) starting in November 2026 and scheduled to go until March 2027. We are open to working with artists located in Ontario or British Columbia.

You’ll get to:

• Create visual direction for characters as assigned for use by various departments within the pipeline
• Gather suitable reference material from various sources
• Create dynamic, original and appealing designs in line with the quality and style of the Production
• Revise work as per Director, Art Director or Supervisor feedback
• Provide creative input where appropriate
• Troubleshoot creative and technical issues as they arise

This will be your JAM if you have:

• 3+ years of Design experience, preferably within a feature or series animation production environment
• 3D/CG Design experience is required – Designers do not require experience in 3D/CG software, but should have an understanding of how shapes will translate in a 3D space
• Completed post-secondary education in classical animation, concept design, art fundamentals, or other relevant area of study
• Strong drawing skills with the ability to produce visually appealing artwork
• Strong sense of shape language and appeal with the ability to ideate variations of a character from script
• Ability to pose the characters in dynamic ways that highlight story moments
• Ability to translate design into production-friendly sheets such as mouth charts, expression sheets, etc.
• Advanced working knowledge and experience in Photoshop
• Good understanding of the possibilities and limitations of 3D/CG animation
• Ability to adapt working style to varying budget and schedule parameters
• High level of creativity, with the ability to perform to standard under tight deadlines
• Knowledge in Colour and rendering is a plus.
• Ability to handle feedback and constructive criticism well

The salary range provided is based on a weekly rate, for a full-time (40-hour per week) position. This range is non-inclusive of Jam Filled's vacation days, benefits package, personal leave or other components that the position may be eligible for. Exact pay will vary based on a wide range of compensation factors including (but not limited to) each individual's job-related skills, knowledge and experience; the expectations and responsibilities of the role; consideration of internal equity and the current needs of the business.
