To strengthen our Climate Strategy and Carbon Market team, our team of experts is looking forward to welcoming you as a Biodiversity Specialist at our headquarters in  Cologne .

In this role, you will play an important part in strengthening Meo Carbon Solutions’ expertise on biodiversity-related topics. You will develop in-depth knowledge of biodiversity assessment and biodiversity crediting and provide specialised support to our teams and projects. Your work will contribute understanding and assessing biodiversity risks and opportunities and to explore the potential of biodiversity co-benefits in carbon farming and other sustainability projects (e.g. carbon crediting projects).

Your main duties will be

• Conducting biodiversity risk assessments and supporting biodiversity credit feasibility studies
• Analysing biodiversity co-benefits in carbon farming and other sustainability projects (e.g. carbon crediting projects)
• Contributing to the implementation of the ongoing projects (e.g. EU LIFE, Horizon)
• Developing and maintaining specialised knowledge on biodiversity assessment and biodiversity crediting
• Contributing to the continuous development of Meo Carbon Solutions’ expertise and services in the field of biodiversity
• Supporting the team in research-related tasks and the development of new approaches and solutions, focused but not limited to bioversity
• Supporting project teams with biodiversity-related technical expertise and analyses
• Preparing presentations, reports, and other project-related materials

Your profile

• University degree in Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Ecology, or a similar relevant field
• At least 1–2 years of relevant professional experience in biodiversity assessment or biodiversity crediting (salary range depending on experience and qualifications)
• Very good knowledge of biodiversity-related legislation, strategies, and reporting frameworks
• High understanding of sustainability certification systems and standards
• Very good understanding of relevant EU legislation frameworks and strategies
• Knowledge of the EU Carbon Farming and Carbon Removals framework and EU Nature Credit Roadmap is an asset
• Excellent analytical and research skills, combined with a high level of attention to detail
• Very good communication, copywriting and presentation skills and the ability to explain complex topics in a clear and understandable way
• Willingness to take initiative and contribute to the further development of our biodiversity-related activities, and, more in general, to our sustainability services portfolio
• Very good English skills (at least C1, written and spoken) are a must, good German language skills (at least B2, written and spoken) preferred
• Flexibility in addressing new topics, not necessarily solely focused on biodiversity, but covering also Regenerative Agriculture
