Corporate Accounting Manager
The Corporate Accounting Manager owns the accuracy of Hillpointe's corporate and entity level books and leads the annual corporate budget from build through monthly variance tracking.
Entity accounting and close
- Own the monthly close for the corporate and holding company entities and their consolidation, including intercompany activity, eliminations and due to and due from balances.
- Own the books for the company's aviation entities: internal and external lease revenue, insurance, maintenance and cost sharing with affiliates.
- Account for corporate held real estate, including warehouse, land and residential holdings: leases, CAM calculations and tenant billing, property tax positions and book value schedules.
- Prepare distribution and cash projections for investment entities when requested.
- Research and document accounting treatment for nonroutine transactions (land transfers, reclassifications, new leases) and tie every entry to source documents.
Review and affiliate reporting
- Serve as first level reviewer on monthly packages for affiliated operating companies before second level review by the Corporate Controller.
- Lead monthly review meetings with affiliate leadership, and send the reviewed workbook and a written list of action items within one business day.
- Keep an Open Items log on every package and close items before the next cycle.
Corporate budgets and department expense reporting
- Own the department expense allocation framework: department and subdepartment structure, employee allocations, GL mapping and data sources.
- Run the department review cycle with each department lead, using the Department Review Tracker to schedule, document and follow through.
- Lead the annual corporate budget build with department leads, then report monthly budget to actual variances with explanations.
- Recommend GL additions and retirements so the chart of accounts supports budgeting and reporting.
Controls, process and systems
- Maintain intercompany billback, service agreement and check run support for corporate entities.
- Document SOPs for every recurring deliverable the role owns so the work is not dependent on one person.
- Support the ERP transition (data mapping, entity and department structure, history cleanup) and use Monday.com and SharePoint as the systems of record for tracking and files.
Leadership
- Direct and develop staff and outsourced resources assigned to corporate entity work, including offshore support.
- Partner with Tax, Legal, Treasury, Construction Accounting, Draws and Property Management Accounting to resolve cross entity questions.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi entity close and consolidation.
- Working knowledge of real estate accounting: leases, CAM, intercompany structures, capital events and distributions.
- Experience building budgets and departmental expense reporting with business leaders, not only for them.
- Strong Excel modeling; experience with RealPage, Entrata, Ramp and Sage Intacct or a comparable ERP.
- Clear written communication: can turn a workbook into a short summary, a decision request and a list of next steps.
- Experience directing staff or outsourced teams, with a track record of delegating and reviewing rather than redoing.
