GovSignals is the AI system of work for government contracting. It can take the government longer to buy a capability than an adversary takes to field one, and we exist to close that gap.

We're the only startup managing government contract data with AI in both FedRAMP High and DoW Impact Level 5 environments. Our platform monitors 5,000+ live government data sources, 100,000+ federal and state agencies, and 2,000,000+ government contracts in real time. Our customers in government include offices like DIU and SOCOM, and our customers in industry range from small contractors to Fortune 500 primes with billions in annual awards. In the past 18 months, we've earned FedRAMP High and IL5 authorizations, joined GSA MAS and the MDA SHIELD IDIQ, and signed some of the biggest names in government contracting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring a Platform Engineer to expand our platform engineering team. You'll work directly with the CTO and own the infrastructure and security of a platform that runs in commercial cloud, FedRAMP High, and IL5 environments.

Every GovSignals deployment runs on the infrastructure you'll own. You'll build and operate it daily, and you'll own it once it's in production. When a customer's security team asks how a control works, you are the one who can show them. The work arrives as a requirement rather than a design, and you decide how the platform meets it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Run the same product in three places at once: commercial cloud, FedRAMP High in AWS GovCloud, and IL5. Where the tooling doesn't work in a restricted network, we make it work. We maintain our own builds of Supabase and Trigger.dev http://Trigger.dev.
• Run the Kubernetes clusters, GitOps pipelines, networking, and observability for each environment, and make standing up a new environment a repeatable process.
• Build infrastructure where AI agents are first-class users: agentic harnesses that support how billions in government contract volume gets won and managed, automated remediation loops, and deployment tooling used by engineers and agents alike.
• Work with our deployment team to integrate customer data, including data underpinning America's warfighting capabilities, and support thousands of users at enterprises managing billions in contracts.
• Our stack: Kubernetes, AWS GovCloud, UDS, Cloudflare Workers, TypeScript, Postgres.

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5+ years in platform, infrastructure, or security engineering roles.
• Experience building infrastructure that other engineers depend on.
• Deep Kubernetes experience in production: cluster operations, networking, GitOps, and upgrades without downtime.
• You've taken infrastructure through a real migration or scaling event and can walk through what broke.
• You build secure by default: hardened images, least-privilege access, network policy, and secrets management are where you start.

Nice to have: experience in FedRAMP, IL, HIPAA, or other regulated environments; Postgres operations (replication, backups, migrations); backend TypeScript; open-source infrastructure work.

Clearance: not required. An active or previous clearance is a plus.

THE TEAM

GovSignals was founded by four cofounders who lived with this problem from both sides (selling to the government and serving inside it) with backgrounds across the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Energy, Palantir, Amazon, federal contractors building for missiles, and state contractors building for prisons. You'll work directly with all four. Other team members at GovSignals have shipped to defense companies, scaled venture-backed startups, and founded companies of their own.

Design by HI (Human Intelligence), Work by AI (Artificial Intelligence). Human Intelligence takes responsibility for what we build and how we communicate to customers. Artificial Intelligence does much of the building. We provide unlimited Claude and ChatGPT credits for reasonable use, and we expect you to come in with extensive AI experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Base Salary: $160,000 – $230,000

• Brooklyn Navy Yard office, 3+ days a week in person. The Yard built ships for the Navy from 1801 to 1966, now we build systems for Navy program offices.
