Filtronic is an award-winning designer and manufacturer of advanced RF, microwave and mmWave solutions, supporting customers across the Space, Aerospace, Defence and Telecommunications sectors.

With a strong reputation for innovation and engineering excellence, we are experiencing significant growth and investing in our people, processes and capabilities to support the next stage of our development.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our QEHSS team and play a key role in strengthening supplier quality, improving performance and ensuring our supply chain consistently meets the high standards our customers expect.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Lead, you will take ownership of supplier quality management processes, performance metrics and continuous improvement activities across our supply chain.

Working closely with our Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering and Operations teams, you will ensure suppliers meet the required quality standards, support on-time delivery and deliver right-first-time quality.

You will work directly with suppliers to establish expectations, monitor performance, conduct audits, investigate quality issues and implement effective corrective actions. You will also help develop our supplier quality processes to support our ISO 9001 requirements and our longer-term ambition to operate at AS9100 level.

The role will involve travel to supplier locations across the UK and internationally, as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and develop Filtronic’s supplier quality management processes, procedures and controls.
  • Develop, monitor and report supplier quality KPIs and performance measures.
  • Manage supplier quality assurance activities, from onboarding and qualification through to ongoing performance management.
  • Establish and communicate supplier quality requirements and expectations.
  • Plan and conduct supplier quality audits, ensuring agreed actions are followed through to completion.
  • Monitor supplier performance, identify trends and risks, and drive improvement opportunities.
  • Lead Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), ensuring robust root-cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain team to support on-time-in-full delivery and right-first-time quality.
  • Identify supplier quality risks and work with relevant stakeholders to implement appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Maintain accurate supplier quality records, documentation and performance information.
  • Ensure supplier quality activities comply with ISO 9001 requirements and contribute to the development of AS9100-level practices.
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering and Operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier quality processes, standards and performance.
  • Travel to supplier locations in the UK and internationally, where required.

Requirements

You will be a proactive and analytical quality professional with experience in supplier quality management within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

You will be confident engaging with suppliers, challenging performance where necessary and working collaboratively to resolve problems and deliver sustainable improvements. You will have a structured approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities without losing sight of quality, delivery and customer requirements.

You will also be comfortable taking ownership of processes, working independently and influencing stakeholders to achieve the right outcomes.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
