Reporting to the Operations Director the role, requirements and personal specifications for the position of Project Director are outlined below:

The Role

As part of an exciting company expansion projects, Designer Group are seeking for a Project Director (Electrical) to join our Operations team in our data centre business.

As PD you will provide leadership to project operations across various contracts that run concurrently. You will be responsible to ensure the projects are delivered on time, on budget, to the highest quality standards and exceeding our client's expectations. Your role will involve the management of senior project personnel, in the delivery of the contracts under your control. You will provide proactive management accountability, in line with the values of Designer Group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for understanding the key deliverables for the DC project. This will require in depth knowledge of each stakeholder responsibility, including the ultimate client, employer’s agent, professional team, main contractor, FM provider and any other supply chain subcontractors.
• Ensure that during the design process all key interfaces of the above get concluded to ensure success within the construction phase.
• Operate and maintain a risk register through the life of the project.
• Particular emphasis to be placed upon any conflict taking place following the RDD process, ensuring this is resolved by protecting the company’s contractual obligations.
• Seek to ensure that all document submissions are reviewed and approved prior to commencement of works on site which will de-risk the project.
• Ensure the third-party information received is reviewed and assessed for any change. The change control process needs to be managed ensuring commercial risks and cost recovery can be progressed on an ongoing basis.

Key Operational Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with Designer Group’s Quality, Safety, Environmental Policies and Procedures.
• Lead the operational delivery of the Vienna Project and manage the site team.
• Develop and manage procurement schedules, strategies and subcontract packages.
• Manage project costs, cost control and value engineering.
• Oversee design development, technical submittals, drawings and contractor design deliverables.
• Monitor project delivery from pre-construction through to completion.
• Manage project programmes, planning, forecasting and reporting.
• Ensure project milestones, deadlines and deliverables are achieved.
• Manage completion documentation, including O&M manuals.
• Maintain accurate site and client meeting records.
• Ensure Designer Group’s standards and best interests are maintained throughout the project.
• Carry out any other duties as required.

Key Project Delivery Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct M&E project operations, ensuring safe, high-quality, on-time and budget-compliant delivery.
• Develop and manage project programmes, labour requirements, milestones and progress reporting.
• Oversee design development, value engineering and technical submittals.
• Manage project budgets, resources, variations and material usage.
• Coordinate installation activities, labour, materials and plant.
• Supervise site personnel and ensure adequate labour and materials are planned in advance.
• Liaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, designers and other project stakeholders.
• Attend and lead project, design and subcontractor progress meetings.
• Monitor installation progress and ensure projects are ready for commissioning on schedule.
• Manage variations, valuations and the overall financial performance of projects.
• Ensure projects are successfully completed within programme and agreed profit targets.
• Ensure compliance with Designer Group Health & Safety procedures and project requirements.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

• Proven experience in a similar M&E role, delivering key projects.
• Strong technical knowledge within the M&E industry.

Qualifications

• HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
