QA Engineer II

We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer II to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our products and platforms. This role focuses on designing and executing test strategies, identifying defects early, validating fixes, and partnering closely with engineering teams to improve product quality throughout the development lifecycle.

You will work cross-functionally with software engineers, product managers, and support stakeholders to validate new features, regression-test existing functionality, and strengthen test coverage across manual and automated workflows. This role is well suited for someone who is curious, methodical, and comfortable investigating issues deeply rather than only following predefined scripts.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Design, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across product areas.
• Identify, document, reproduce, and track software defects with clear technical detail and business impact.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and identify quality risks early in the development process.
• Validate bug fixes and confirm that changes do not introduce regressions in related workflows.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test coverage where appropriate.
• Help improve release quality by participating in sprint planning, feature reviews, and release validation activities.
• Analyze logs, error messages, and system behavior to support root-cause investigation and efficient issue triage.
• Collaborate with support and engineering teams to reproduce customer-reported issues and confirm resolutions.
• Contribute to quality documentation, test standards, and continuous improvement of QA processes and tooling.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO DDN

• 3+ years of experience in quality assurance, software testing, or a related engineering role.
• Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, defect lifecycle management, and test design principles.
• Experience writing clear, thorough, and reusable test cases and bug reports.
• Familiarity with manual and automated testing approaches.
• Experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrated systems.
• Comfort working with logs, diagnostics, and technical data to investigate failures and isolate issues.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools.
• Basic scripting or automation experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a disciplined, methodical approach to validation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Curiosity, ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.
• Experience validating performance, reliability, or system-level behavior.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, command-line tools, or API testing tools.
• Exposure to storage, infrastructure, or enterprise software environments is a plus.
