Make Every Day Meaningful – Create Moments That Matter

Do you love connecting with people, understanding their stories and making a genuine difference to someone's day?

We're looking for a warm, compassionate and creative Activities & Engagement Facilitator to join our dementia care home team.

Living with dementia doesn't mean losing the ability to enjoy life, experience happiness or find purpose. It's about understanding the person behind the dementia, recognising what matters to them and finding meaningful ways to help them remain connected to their interests, memories and the world around them.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be at the heart of creating and delivering meaningful experiences for our residents. It's not just about organising activities; it's about getting involved, building relationships and understanding what makes each individual happy.

From leading group activities and sharing familiar songs to one-to-one conversations, reminiscence and everyday moments, you'll help residents enjoy life, maintain their interests and feel valued.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning, leading and actively participating in a varied programme of activities.
  • Providing meaningful one-to-one engagement for residents who prefer quieter activities or need additional support.
  • Adapting activities and communication to meet the needs and abilities of people living with dementia.
  • Using residents' life stories, interests and experiences to create meaningful opportunities for engagement.
  • Delivering activities such as music, arts and crafts, gardening, reminiscence, baking and gentle exercise.
  • Building positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
  • Organising special events, entertainers, community visits and outings, including supporting residents on minibus trips.
  • Working alongside the care team to make meaningful engagement part of everyday life.
  • Maintaining accurate records and capturing photographs and content (with appropriate consent) to celebrate the wonderful things happening in the home.
  • Ensuring all administrative tasks are completed within the given timeframes.

About You

  • Warm, compassionate, patient and approachable.
  • Passionate about dementia care and improving the lives of older people.
  • Understands the importance of seeing the person, not the dementia.
  • A confident communicator who can adapt their approach to individual needs and abilities.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and able to turn everyday opportunities into meaningful experiences.
  • Observant, with the ability to recognise changes in mood, behaviour and engagement.
  • Confident leading, motivating and developing a team.
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable with IT and administration.
  • A genuine team player who leads by example and inspires others.

Previous experience is beneficial, especially in a Dementia environment, but your personality, attitude and ability to connect with people are what really matter.

Got a Hidden Talent?

Can you sing, play an instrument, tell a great story, paint, dance, garden or bake? We'd love to hear about it!

You don't need to be a professional entertainer. We want someone who enjoys getting involved, inspiring others and bringing a little extra joy into everyday life.

It's not about filling the day with activities; it's about filling the day with moments that matter.

If you have the heart, creativity and leadership skills to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!
