Our Procurement and Commercial practice are looking for experienced Consultants to join the team.

Our Procurement and Commercial team partners with some of the most influential public and private sector organisations globally, tackling their toughest procurement and commercial strategic challenges across sectors such as energy, utilities, government and products and services. We provide our clients with end-to-end support across procurement transformation, complex procurement strategy and delivery, digital procurement, sustainability and ESG transparency initiatives, and third-party ecosystem management. Our team is particularly skilled in driving sustainable cost optimisation through procurement, helping our clients to navigate the current volatile economic environment.

We are seeking professionals with strong transferable consulting skills, either gained through experience with internal clients in industry roles or with a consultancy firm, who are keen on a new challenge and want to be part of a rapidly growing consulting team. Examples of such skills would be:

• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
• Experience with handling difficult situations and balancing challenging priorities and deadlines
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
• Strong commercial awareness and a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
• Structured problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to break down complex issues and develop practical recommendations.
• Ability to translate analysis into clear client-facing outputs, such as reports, presentations and decision papers.

What you will be doing

You will work as part of collaborative project teams, supporting clients to address procurement and commercial challenges and deliver meaningful improvements to their organisations. You will contribute to high-quality analysis and deliverables, build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues, and develop your procurement and consulting capabilities through a range of project experiences.

This will involve:

• Working as part of client delivery teams on procurement and commercial projects, which may span strategy, design and implementation
• Building effective working relationships with clients and colleagues, and contributing to high-quality client deliverables
• Undertaking research, analysis and financial modelling to develop insights and support recommendations
• Supporting procurement activities such as opportunity assessment, category strategy development, strategic sourcing, supplier management and contract management
• Communicating findings clearly through written materials, presentations and discussions with clients and project teams
• Working with colleagues from across Baringa to bring together different capabilities and perspectives to solve client challenges
• Developing your knowledge of procurement trends, best practices and emerging technologies, supported by formal and on-the-job learning
• Contributing to the development of practice materials, propositions, thought leadership and internal team initiatives

Your skills and experience

Our key requirements include proven experience with strategic and/or operational procurement delivery in complex environments, , such as in a consulting firm or an internal improvement or business transformation function in industry. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in some of the following:

• Procurement, commercial, supply chain or a related business environment
• Category management, strategic sourcing or supporting competitive procurement processes
• Cost analysis, opportunity assessment, financial modelling or business case
• Procurement operating model, process improvement or wider transformation activity
• Technology, software, digital infrastructure or digital procurement solutions
• Researching and analysing qualitative and quantitative information to develop clear insights
• Producing high-quality written deliverables and presentations
• Working collaboratively with different stakeholders in a project or operational environment
• Applying structured problem-solving skills to new or complex challenges
• A willingness to develop your procurement knowledge, consulting skills and understanding of our clients’ industries
• Experience with business process management and analysis, alongside working on continuous improvement and optimisation initiatives
