Project Engineer Wind & Marine
Make an impact across four marine projects
At Ballast Nedam Wind & Marine we deliver complex marine and energy infrastructure, from island harbours to LNG jetties. As Project Engineer Wind & Marine you work across our portfolio: the hurricane-resistant Black Rocks Harbor on Saba, coastal protection and harbour works on Sint Eustatius, quay wall rehabilitation in the Port of Castries (Saint Lucia) and the LNG sea jetty in Brunsbüttel (Germany). You are responsible for technical content in tenders and for engineering during execution.
You make sure each project meets technical, quality and constructability standards from tender to delivery.
Your responsibilities
You turn concepts and designs into practical engineering solutions and keep technical risks under control. Depending on project phase, you are based on one project and support the others, or you move between them. You work with tender and project management, designers, professional partners, and clients ranging from island governments to a port authority and an LNG terminal developer.
You are technically strong and enjoy coaching junior engineers and bringing structure and knowledge to the team.
Key Responsibilities
Across four projects, planning, cost and quality must be balanced in very different conditions: Caribbean swell, a live port and the tides of the Elbe. That needs insight and flexibility.
One month you work on X-bloc placement on Saba; the next you develop quay repair methods in Castries or check piling sequences in Brunsbüttel.
- Developing execution methods for breakwaters, X-bloc placement, quay walls, jetties and heavy piling.
- Managing engineering during both tender and execution phases.
- Supporting the X-bloc production on Sint Eustatius and the harbour option studies there.
- Coordinating technical interfaces with designers, suppliers, subcontractors, partners and clients.
- Identifying and mitigating technical risks such as wave loads, tides, soil conditions and marine operations.
- Coaching and supporting (junior) project engineers.
- Sharing lessons learned between projects and contributing to Wind & Marine best practices.
