We work directly with different industries including Automotive, Energy, Aeronautics, Banking & Insurance, Telecom & Multimedia, and Rail; offering services ranging from project design development to test/validation, programming, implementation, and manufacturing.

ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group is currently working with international clients, and we are looking for Mechanical Design Engineers who will contribute to the development of an Iron Air Battery , a large-scale energy storage solution, with detailed design and sustaining engineering for components and assemblies.

📍 Location: Remote 🕒 Experience Level: 1+ years 🌐 English: B2–C1

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and revise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering releases.
  • Develop cost-reduction concepts while maintaining requirements and critical interfaces.
  • Perform packaging, tolerance, fit, form, function, and manufacturability assessments.
  • Resolve nonconformities and field issues through root-cause analysis and design revision.
  • Support design reviews, supplier coordination, prototype evaluation, and validation planning.

Requirements

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields .
  • Mechanical component redesign for lower material, tooling, fabrication, and assembly cost.
  • Sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, piping/fittings, plastics, fasteners, and tolerance stack-ups.
  • 2+ years for junior or 4+ years for mid-level mechanical design assignments.
  • Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T , tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA , and engineering change control.
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
  • Hands-on SolidWorks experience is required; provide examples of production-released designs.

English level B2–C1 .

Preferred Skills

Industry Knowledge:

  • Experience in energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, iron-air technology).
  • Familiarity with large-scale mechanical or industrial projects.

Software and Tools:

  • Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems (e.g., TeamCenter, Windchill).

Innovation and Optimization:

  • Experience in design optimization (e.g., topology optimization, weight reduction).
  • Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly design practices.

Manufacturing and Materials:

  • Understanding of advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, CNC machining).
  • Knowledge of material selection for extreme environments (e.g., corrosion resistance, high-temperature materials).

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Technical leadership and decision‑making capability.
  • Problem‑solving and analytical thinking.
  • Time management and ability to operate under tight deadlines.
