Senior Software Engineer - Data Platform

THE ROLE

You will own workstreams end to end on the Data Platform team: designing, building, and operating the pipelines and warehouse infrastructure that move healthcare data from source systems into production. This is a senior IC role. You will make defensible architecture decisions, ship them, run them in production, and raise the bar for the engineers around you.

The stack: Snowflake, SQLMesh, Temporal, Python, AWS, Fivetran, and Datadog, organized around a medallion architecture. The problems: high-volume EHR extract infrastructure (Epic Clarity, Athena, ODBC-based sources), core entity modeling shared across every product surface, health-system readiness at enterprise scale, warehouse cost and access governance, and pipeline reliability with real SLAs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Own a major platform workstream end to end, from ambiguous requirements through architecture, delivery, and production operation.
• Build production-grade pipelines that treat idempotency, late-arriving data, backfills, and failure recovery as first-class concerns.
• Design EHR extract infrastructure against Epic Clarity, athenahealth, and ODBC-based sources, working through the data quality and variability that healthcare data brings.
• Turn raw data into curated, trusted models. You understand the difference between moving data and modeling it.
• Shape technical direction for your pod: mentor peers, review designs, and influence decisions beyond your own tickets.
• Partner with product, forward-deployed engineering, and customer-facing teams. Translate technical constraints into business impact and surface trade-offs before you are asked.
• Own platform health: observability, access control, and warehouse cost, including query profiles, clustering, and credit consumption.
• Run what you build. Engineers on this team support their pipelines in production, including on-call.
• Develop AI-natively. AI coding tools (Claude Code and similar) are part of how this team designs, builds, and reviews.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• 5+ years building and operating production data systems, with clear personal ownership of at least one non-trivial pipeline or platform component end to end.
• Strong Python and advanced SQL. Comfortable in large warehouse schemas and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with a modern warehouse (Snowflake preferred) and an orchestration framework (Temporal, Airflow, Prefect, or similar). Transformation frameworks like SQLMesh or dbt.
• You have run into production reality: you can name where your designs broke under load and what you changed.
• You scope before you solve - you ask about volume, latency, and SLAs before drawing boxes.
• You operate without constant direction: self-directed, escalating strategically, comfortable with ambiguity and reprioritization.

NICE TO HAVE

• Healthcare data experience: EHR integrations, HL7/FHIR, claims data (837/835), payer nuance, PHI/HIPAA constraints.
• Early-stage or resource-constrained environments; evidence of building foundational infrastructure from scratch.
• AWS infrastructure depth (IAM, S3, ECS/Fargate) and observability practice (Datadog).

The base salary range for this position is $190,000 to $210,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we also offer competitive equity and benefits packages.

COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY

Actual base pay will depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Adonis determines compensation based on each candidate’s experience and qualifications relative to peers, and most new hires fall near the middle of the range.
