About accilium
accilium is an award-winning strategy and management consultancy shaping the future of mobility and energy. We work with industry leaders in Automotive & Transport, Energy & Environment, and Public & Infrastructure. Founded in 2017, we've grown to 110+ people across 7 offices: Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Cologne, Hamburg, Bucharest and Warsaw. Our software subsidiary & (50+ developers) lets us deliver end-to-end. We've been ranked Top 10 in the brand eins/Statista "Best Consultants" list five years running and were named "Hidden Champion 2026/2027".
The role
As Forward Deployed Engineer, you work with our clients to turn breakthroughs in AI technology and research into production systems. Working at the intersection of bleeding edge technologies and the transformation of leading enterprises' core value chains, you will drive organizational transformation and help our clients re-architect work.
You'll also help build accilium itself into an AI-native company. Through Project aIQ, our internal transformation program, we ship weekly builds of "acciliumOS", the agents and tools our own consultants work with.
You join the FDE team in our Technology Practice, and you'll help shape how it grows.
What you'll do
- Build agentic systems with our clients and embed them in their core processes, from first prototype to production.
- Ship concrete artifacts: agents, MCP servers, agent skills and integrations used in real workflows.
- Turn what works into reusable patterns, for accilium and, where we can, for the open-source community.
- Work on-site with client teams, explain what you built, and spot the next use case.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the latest developments in LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI development stacks.
- Expand accilium’s build capabilities for agentic systems and deploy solutions for our internal value chains
What you bring
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, data science, engineering or similar.
- Hands-on coding in Python and/or TypeScript; you're comfortable with APIs, git and the command line.
- Things you've built and can show us: a GitHub profile, a side project, a thesis, a hackathon entry. Shipped is better than polished.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs: you've built with an agent framework, written a prompt or eval pipeline, or connected a model to real data.
- You enjoy explaining technical work to non-technical people and learning how their work actually runs.
- Process-design instinct and hands-on experience with analytical, generative and agentic AI stack (agent harnesses, context engineering, skills)
- Deep understanding of how model behavior affects enterprise outcomes
- You like figuring things out, can operate autonomously and thrive under ambiguity as well as under pressure
- Ambition to move fast and take risks
- Strong presentation, facilitation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work on-site with clients in DACH 1–3 days per week.
- German and English at C1 level*
- Global scale - Table 1 (CEFR 3.3): Common Reference levels (coe.int)
How you'll grow
- Structured onboarding with our FDE team and pairing with engineers at &.
- A clear path from FDE to Senior FDE, with regular feedback and a named mentor.
- Real ownership early: your first build reaches a client or internal team within your first weeks.
What we offer
- Salary : €61,000 gross per year for graduates; €82,000 with 2 years of relevant full-time experience all-in contract.
- Funded frontier-model API access with no token budget gating for experimentation.
- Latest tech kit (Mac or Windows/ WSL), flat hierarchies and an open-door culture.
